The Lompoc Animal Shelter and Santa Barbara County Companion Animal Placement Assistance (CAPA) program hosted a “Home for the Paw-lidays” event Dec. 10 in Lompoc and Santa Ynez to help shelter animals find homes while also spreading the holiday spirit. Pet adoptions were 50% off during the event, which took place at the Lompoc shelter and the Santa Ynez Feed Store. Refreshments were provided at the Lompoc shelter, which was decked with holiday decorations, including a tree complete with gifts – donated animal treats and toys – underneath.
In addition to dogs and cats, there were also rabbits and chickens available for adoption during the event. Volunteers at the Lompoc shelter, which included local middle school students, reported a higher-than-average Saturday turnout.
