For week ending Dec. 11; Water temperature 57.5 degrees

Largemouth bass broke wide open, and some anglers reported 20-plus fish days on jigs, Texas rigs, cranks and blades. Anywhere from the back of the narrows to Santa Cruz Bay has been producing, and the fish are holding from 10 to 30 feet in the water column. Crappie have also been on the chew and trolling small spinners in the narrows was the best way to go. Trout fishing has been spotty, but there was a 4,000-pound plant from the Calaveras fish hatchery scheduled Tuesday; it should kick the trout bite into high gear. There were a few catfish checked in at the launch, but details were unavailable. Carp have been down too deep to shoot but should begin feeding on the surface soon. Red ear and bluegill were both no-shows.
