A 28-year-old male from Solvang was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license after police pulled him over for not having his license plate lit with the required light bulb. The car the man was driving belonged to his stepfather. He admitted that his mother allowed him to drive the car because she did not know that his license was suspended. He was given a notice to appear in court.

A 41-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported that she received an e-mail claiming that she was entitled to $2,500,000. The message seemed to come from an International Lottery Program. It instructed the woman to send additional personal information, including her name, sex, age, marital status and occupation to collect the prize. The woman contacted the international number listed in the e-mail, and claimed a man answered and said she would be contacted regarding her prize. She did not send any additional information. The case was forwarded to the FBI for review.

A 56-year-old female reported that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to forcibly enter the business by prying open the front door. The woman said she received a phone call from her office’s burglary service notifying her that her alarm had been triggered. The woman found dirty handprints on the doorjamb. She did not report that anything had been stolen. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 22-year-old male from Morro Bay was issued a citation for being in possession of marijuana paraphernalia and driving without valid insurance, after police pulled him over for running a stop sign. The man admitted to police that he “smoked marijuana every day for the past two to three years.” When backup police arrived, a search of the vehicle revealed marijuana seeds along with four marijuana pipes, about 10 empty beer cans and 20 empty bottles of hard liquor. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days and he was released.

A 25-year-old male reported that an unknown suspect(s) deleted data stored on his computer’s hard drive without his consent. He said that “the computer was working like someone was sitting in front of it.” He immediately feared that someone was trying to hack into his computer so he began to move the mouse. The computer then deleted files. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 23-year-old male reported that a 24-year-old female and a 28-year-old male broke a glass picture and a bathroom door during a domestic dispute. The estimated damage was $300. The case was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for a complaint review.
